Before It's Over

~
Amid the blind we walk a darkened path
while choosing to ignore the signs we see.
Unfearful of the certain aftermath
that, we're forewarned, will surely come to be.

Whence evil holds more worth than love abound
our own existence stands within the wake.
Though armageddon seems, to us, profound,
I doubt there's little more that God will take.

But should our values turn a wayward curve
and love becomes the strength of our accord,
perhaps we might postpone what men deserve,
to breathe our last beneath an angel's sword.

Awaken us so all's not lost in vain.
Please hear me, Lord, before our world is slain.
