God's Love

Wrapped In His Arms

by Janet Foor

A Poem about God Contest Winner
One stormy night when all alone,
my pillow wet with tears --
I called upon my God above
whom I have known for years.

This Father who has kept me safe
when all around has failed.
He knows my hurts, my sins, my all --
a love that has prevailed.

My mother always did her best
to keep her family near.
Tormented father filled with pain --
whose problems were severe.

Sometimes life's struggles cloud our thoughts
and sin comes rushing in.
We are the product of our past --
sometimes we cannot win.

But on this night - I searched for rest
in anguish by alarms.
God came and held my trembling hand
and wrapped me in His arms.

Each time the raging storms resume
I look to Him again.
I feel His gentle hand in mine
and know that I can win.

A Father's love is priceless and
it can't be bought with gold.
It's free to all who seek his love
from birth until we're old.

His grace sufficient for the day --
with love that time transcends.
I feel his saving grace each day --
A love that never ends.

A child upon her daddy's lap
free from the day's alarms.
I cuddle up and say my prayers
wrapped in my Father's arms.

I grew up with a step-father who had too many problems of his own to be a "father" to me. Still, my mother saw that her children had a Christian upbringing.
In my adult life - I have struggled (as we all do) from time to time. One night when I was distressed and praying - I literally felt God's arms around me, holding me. It's a feeling I continue to go back to whenever I feel that need for the special love that only a father can supply.
