You’ll Never Wear My Hat
By Sandra Stoner Mitchell

I’ve seen the way you look at me, you can’t believe your eyes,
it’s obvious you’re jealous, it’s a look you can’t disguise!
But do you think I’m worried? Do you think I give a rat?
Well, let me tell you something, there’s no way you’ll wear my hat!

You see, you’re just a silly ape, a frisky chimpanzee,
no hat would look as good on you as this one does on me!
Orangutan is what I am, a handsome one at that--
so, let me tell you once again, you’ll never wear my hat!

I know you saw the film crew come and take some shots of me,
they said I was adorable and famous I will be.
The ladies will want autographs, wherever I am at,
and they will want a photo of me wearing my posh hat!

They said, for an orangutan, I had that certain flair;
that my good looks will open doors and take me anywhere.
They said I really look the part--a real aristocrat;
that’s why forever you will never, ever, wear my hat!

Thank you for reading my take on the Picture This Challenge. If you would like to join the group, please get in touch with Jacqueline M Franklin.

I thought you might like to read these notes I found on Google. So, we are APES!!

Chimpanzees are apes, which lack tails. ... Monkeys are small primates with tails (usually), and most are arboreal. Chimps (and Gorillas, and Orangutans, and Gibbons AND humans) are APES, not monkeys.

Pays one point and 2 member cents.
