Those Cursed Beliefs

by rhymelord

You broke free from despotic yoke.
You came to us.  We took you in.
We brought you freedom, gave you hope
that you may build your life again.
We cannot promise lives of bliss,
but we would have you share our days.
We ask no more of you than this: -
that you respect our laws and ways.
But, in your closet ranks, you hide
some who pursue a different aim:
who nourish here a darker side,
born of the hell from which you came.
Mohammed's words quite clearly state,
not once, not twice, but many times,
that infidels deserve your hate
and killing them is not a crime;
And practices that we abhor
are justified in Allah's name.
Beheadings, flogging form the core
of "justice" your Imams proclaim.
If you would live in peace with us
then we must cauterise this scourge:
before its menace kills all trust:
before all reason is submerged.
The lead in this must rest with you,
those Muslims who espouse goodwill,
to keep in check the hapless few:
to thwart their savage urge to kill.
Together then we can ensure:
not faith but love will win this war.
