He Rules The Mountains Out West

He Is Called Wildfire

by country ranch writer

He is wild and free and stands tall like the strong oak trees
He stands alert up on the ridge watching over his mares
They are the future, a new beginning of a famous breed
Mustangs running wild and free like they should be
Manes flowing in the wind as they run to and fro

Wildfire goes to extremes to protect his mares he cares
He stands watching, ears twitching, jerking, listening for the unknown
They have been careful for years not to be caught by any man or beast
He is the fastest horse ever, can't be beat, he gets to them in a heartbeat
The mares graze in the shade of the great old oak tree which they call home

Free out in the wild his mares will live a long and happy life
Protected from the wind, rain, he has a hidden cave behind the falls
Plenty of food, water, shelter, a horses dream come true
Wildfire, he lives up to his name a true mustang in every way
