Good-Bye, My Love

by Just2Write

You’ve said you never loved me.
and now I know it’s true –
You came to me in springtime
by autumn said, adieu.

 How happy was our summer
when love bloomed like a rose.
Oh how I wished that we could share
more heady days like those.

 The changing days of autumn
foretold what lay ahead;
whispers from the falling leaves
proclaimed your love was dead.

 Now, comes the biting winter wind;
so bitter and so cold.
You’ve left me for a fresh young spring
and all I am is old.
