The Allure of France

Romance Melodrama

The Allure of France, And France Romance Melodrama

Have you, perchance, met many mademoiselles from France?
Okay, guys, let’s see a show of hands. None?: I suggest you change your plans.
Red-blooded males, you must meet at least one, if you get a chance.
If she works in the Follies, trust me, you’ll love to see her dance.
(It’s not like the old days when the strippers worked with fans;
It’s only a show, but I want you to know they do the can-cans without wearing pants.)

Back in the day, when, needless to say, a man had to address certain demands,
I did get my chance to fulfill my plans to work in ”wicked” old France.
I had thought France enchanting, a virtual hotbed of decadent clans,
But found I was mistaken, yet entirely taken when I sang in some rock and roll bands.
(People no longer look askance at the mere mention of France
as they did in the past, not even pious grandmas and gramps.)

I met my pet, my sweet Suzette, enchanted by her captivating glance,
Not one of those tramps or one of those vamps, that trade in erotic dance,
the love of my life, and almost my wife, she was my true romance.

Our union was, alas, brief, as death was a thief, when Suzette’s failing glands
stole her life, all our plans, a freakish and sudden mischance.

Epilogue:

Incredible pain notwithstanding, I would relive that time in France,
to be with my love again, and bequeath Fate, finally, one last chance.
