Potlatch Challenge-Momento Poem

Through the Golden Gate

by michaelcahill

COMMEMORATING THE DAY OF MY BIRTH

Through the Golden gate

San Francisco Bay at midnight--
one truly golden eve,
all see
the moment, I take perfect flight.
Hope soars, and all believe
in me.

One's day of birth is filled with hope--
horizon's reached won't do,
or end.
Now, I still claim the same bold scope,
my age-- just something to
transcend.

Recognized

It just so happens I was born on a Naval Base in San Francisco bay at around midnight. Why? For the Potlatch topic, of course!!!

Another GREAT topic. Thanks, Yvonne. :))

TOPIC: Your own birthday

Memento

6 beats for line two; and
two beats for line three. This is repeated twice for each stanza.
The rhyme scheme is: a/b/c/a/b/c for each of the two stanzas.
