A Life In Brief

by Melody Ringo

A child is born,
He grows a bit.
He crawls around,
He throws a fit.

He turns sixteen,
He has a blast!
He gets a car,
And drives too fast.

A parent now,
He has a wife
A house, a job
This is his life.

His hair now gray,
He's lived a while.
He's seen a lot,
But still can smile.

Napo Poem - National Poetry Month contest entry

It made sense to me to tie all four stanzas together using one theme. Life and it's main stages lends itself well to such a theme.
Pays one point and 2 member cents.
