Clothesline

by patcelaw

Hang
myself
out on a
clothesline so I
can see myself as
others see me each day
I might behave differently.
This is what my mother told me
but I couldn't find clothes pins that strong
discouraged I kept falling from the line
I could never see how others saw me
so would someone kindly inform me
how it is I look in their eyes
so I will not keep falling
to the hard ground below
so I can keep on
walking each day
to be just
who I
am.

My mother used to tell me to hang myself on the clothesline, so I would see myself as other saw me. To me that didn't make any sense at all. Does it make sense to you?
