I Once Was

by DonandVicki

Write a Sijo. Contest Winner
I once was home, not a shell
a place where families and lovers did dwell

Babes born and raised with care
then, Mom and Pop were all that lived there

Now vines and old memories roam
I once was home

Write a Sijo.
Contest Winner

The rhyme is intentional, I wanted to express poetically, the emptiness felt in an old abandoned home. Neglect cannot erase all the love, pleasure and pain experienced there. The old vines thrive on the rotting abode.
