I have heard the story of a secretary, who got paid by a Consultant Psychiatrist in the cleavage of her blouse. Her husband liked to see her this way, so that was the way she dressed. Her husband was a teacher, and did some translation for the Psychiatrist. When the shrink came to pay her, he stuffed it between her breasts.

She ran to a colleague, asking what to do. In those days there were no rules for situations like this. I seem to remember she got advice to see the director or else the complaints committee. But she lacked guts for this, as it would be the word of a minor against a senior. Everybody knew about what he had done, as she was somewhat of a gossip, like secretaries can be in a hospital.

So all went on in the same old pace. Nothing happened, nothing changed.
This is not unusual in an environment like this.

Years later the secretary had been promoted to a much higher level. She then got a request by the Director who was her direct boss, to come forward with these facts. She knew the Director very well, but still did not have the guts to report the shrink, that went far too far. Nobody understood this.

This shrink also told all kind of sexually tinted stories, based on what patients had told him, in the middle of the dining room where all the staff (higher and lower) ate at lunch time. Some people decided to eat at another place.

Some time after this it the gossip of the hospital, like in Peyton Place, were this shrinks numerous affairs, while he was married with children. I know many of you may think: this happens. That is true enough, but stay away from where you live or work.

The person that told me all the details left this place due to these circumstances.
After a short period she was told that the Psychiatrist had been fired, and was not even allowed to enter his room.

Unfortunately he found an other job very soon.

But God or somebody punished him with testis cancer.
