Our taste buds are on edge,
awaiting the chance to savor
The variety of different foods,
each having a different flavor

With our stomachs growling
and making sounds of a beast
Licking our lips back and forth,
in anticipation of a great feast

The meal preparations are over
and everybody is nearly starved
It's time to be seated at the table,
the turkey is ready to be carved

But before we all fill our plates
with baked turkey and dressing
We join hands to thank the Lord
for His love and every blessing

The dinner is finally finished
 and everyone has had their fill
All the waiting was well worth it,
this was truly a wonderful meal

This has been a very enjoyable day,
having the family and friends near
We bow our heads and pray for peace,
then make our plans for the new year
