A little girl answers.
What Does Your Daddy Do?
A long time ago, someone asked me this . . .
What does your daddy do?
What kind of job does he go to?
Does he take care of the sick
and knows what makes them tick
or sells the things that people want and need?
Does he work in a groc’ry store
selling veggies/fruits galore;
Can he fix old cars and get them up to speed?
Is he a soldier man?
Does he drive a deliv’ry van
or a bus that takes the children home from school?
He might chat with distant kings
or make necklaces and rings.
Is he a builder with a lot of power tools?
And I replied . . .
He reads to me from books
and helps Mommy when she cooks
then every week we all go to the zoo
He and I play lots of games
to things at school he always came
he helped me learn to tie my tennis shoes
I don’t know what my daddy does
and I have never asked because
I know I am my daddy’s little girl
I don’t care what my daddy does
‘cause he’s the best that ever was
The best that ever was in this whole world
