Childhood days have long been past
Of summers long and dreams that last.
But, still in memory they return
And leave me smiling at such concerns

That invaded my childhood days of schemes
When all I wanted were my childhood dreams.
Childhood sweet and playmates dear
How I wish I could hold them near.

I'd run once more in pastures green
Pretending I was a regal Queen,
Or ride on horseback of make believe,
Where fairies danced and dreams were weaved.

But, like all others of human race
I'm only granted brief bits of grace
To remember my childhood with such love
I know God blessed me from above.

Thank you Lord for memory's gained
To hear and sing childhood's refrain,
To roam once more in a childhood maze
Of butterflies and sunlight's haze.
