Hillary

by RodG

It seems like an aeon or more ago
In this Country of the Free,
That an ex-president's wife all voters know
     By the name of Hillary
Did live with her hubby with no other goal
     Than to win the presidency.

When I'd just come of age, she was seasoned and sage
     In this Country of the Free;
I wanted to believe, thought she'd never deceive,
     This savior, the righteous Hillary,--
Whose love for the Democrat Party
Would result in a great victory.

Then suddenly five months ago
In this Country of the Free,
Details leaked out about e-mails, tainting
     Yet not restraining resilient Hillary.
The race heated up with slurs unabated
     Contentious debates on TV.
She held her ground, she would not back down
In the Country of the Free.

Oh, she was too crafty and voters unhappy
     Detested Donald and Hillary.
Yes, that was the reason (as all men know)
In this Country of the Free,
That all undecided and all those far-sighted
Abandoned both DEMS and the G-O-P.

Oh, the moon never beams without bringing me dreams
     Of that nominee, Ms. Hillary.
And the stars never rise that I don't see the crazed eyes
     Of the candidate, Ms. Hillary.
Oh, the Republicans died and I still can't decide
If I honestly can vote with any real pride
For one who lies constantly, who wishes to be
Commander=in-Chief of this Country of the Free.
