Not yet exceptional. When the exceptional rating is reached this is highlighted
A flight over the countryside comes to an unexpected end

The flight

by oliver818

Over the long and stalky grasses,
Over the munching cows,
Over the wide and stretching fences,
Over the prickly thorns.

Over the quickly fading flowers,
Over the ageless stones,

Over the flowing, chuckling river, and
Over the rolling road.

Under the soaring plane's white trail,
Under the sun's last rays,
Under the crow's dark, whistling feathers,
Under the dampening sky.

Under the mist's slow lowering fingers,
Under the drizzling clouds,
Under the gaze of a billboard face,
Under the faceless dark.

If nothing comes to block its path,
This flight could go on forever.
But something always blocks the way,
That's just the way of the world.

Through the window,
Crossing the sink,
Over the table and chairs.
Over the bed,
Just missing his head,
The bullet embeds in the wall.
