With Wisdom Comes Age
Growing up I heard there is nothing you can't overcome in life if you put your mind to it. My life was filled with all kinds of clichés. My Grandpa was my biggest fan and because of him I have become an overcomer.
He once told me, "It's not the time you take to find out what is the most important thing in your life. It is what you do to overcome the obstacles put in your way and to achieve getting over those hurdles that's important.
For me it has been what my Grandpa calls rodeo meltdown, I thrive on adventure, the fear and Adeline rush and surviving those seconds it takes me to finish my runs. Racing to the finish line in a dead run to try and beat the clock and my competition time. Rodeo is such a part of my life as writing is. Creative writing for me is like being able to express myself than about having something to say. I am an overcomer.
I have to sometime blow off steam so I head up to the mountains in Gods country where things a peaceful and quiet away from all the outside world. A few days of camping and fishing will make one right as rain. Just ask Grandpa he usually would go with me in times of stress. I keep a journal some writers don't but I like to write down what I have seen and learned as I continue my travels. You would be surprised some of the material that comes from my journals. Especially my stories about my grandpa and growing up with him as my mentor along with the writers I have met along the way. Diane Fanning is one of my biggest crime writers, Stephen King is my horror hero besides, Dean Kutch, and Dean kuch and My rodeo family are along for the ride. They are overcomers.
Some say that those who are true believers will be overcomers. It's having faith in God and oneself. Sometime when we have to face death, we must not lose our trust in God.
Since you all know the term "overcome" means "to conquer, prevail, triumph, overcome."
Winning is faith in one's self, our sincerity to overcome the obstacles put in our way and achieve discipline, diligence, and commitment to get the job done.
We live in a world that presents many challenges and we must be able to overcome and cope with in our daily lives. I have never lost sight of this, for it rings true in all walks of life.
Grandpa says we must set goals and to achieve them sometimes we must stumble along the way. He says we stumble not because the goal is unachievable, nut rather because of unexpected obstacles and challenges that arise along the journey that makes the goal seem unachievable to us. Figure out what is currently preventing you from getting to where you want to be and work on fixing the issues at hand.
Grandpa said that in order to reach a happy medium we need to help people reach their goals and dreams. We can influence people and understand their needs, motives, and desires. This will help both of you to be able to maneuver through the obstacles in life.
I have learned so much from my Grandpa over the years. I sure miss him, he was always there for me when I needed advice. If I had a problem, he always helped me work things out. It didn't seem so big when he had a solution to things.
He once told me, no matter what life throws your way, keep in mind there are some times all we need is back and getting a new perspective on things. Sometimes we must make sacrifices, it is not what you do but what you let go of that will have the greatest impact on your life.
We all learn from our mistakes and the more we learn the more we will grow to be able to deal with situations and obstacles that line in our path. Grandpa says keeping things simple and straight forward for some of the toughest problems are often the simplest to work through.
