All Is Lost

by jaybird1

My cash and credit all are spent,
that wasn't ever my intent.
My health, my hopes, my dreams are gone
and now I sing this doleful song.

I lost my job and wrecked my car,
returning from a nearby bar.
The preacher called just yesterday,
he thought the time had come to pray.

My wife, my kids, my dog have fled
I lie alone in this cold bed.
'Twas all because of my affairs,
with those dumb blondes with sexy airs.

My brain has died, all joy is gone
and I am left with this sad song-
O! Wondrous powers hear my cry,
help me awaken, I will try.
