How my good friend found himself losing it

Losing It

by jaybird1

My cash, my credit all are spent,
that wasn't ever my intent.
My health, my hopes, my dreams are gone
and now I sing this doleful song.

I lost my job and wrecked my car
returning from a nearby bar;
The preacher called just yesterday,
he thought the time had come to pray.

My wife, my kids and dog have fled.
I lie alone in this cold bed;
"Twas all because of my affairs
with those sweet blondes with sexy airs.

My brain is dead, all joy is gone
and I am left with this sad song.
Oh! Wondrous powers, hear my cry,
help me awaken, I will try.
