Crusts of Cold Wrap Winter's Round

by GracieAnn

Crusts of cold wrap winter's round
as timbers' touches wane
on panes of ice her art is found
in layers laced un-plain

Long work of night in freezing chill
in hours fervently
she knows that sadly by her will
won't match day's sovereignty

Her brush is swift to make her splash
time chases fragile styles
her story lines are etched in ash
when sun traverses miles

The heat of day strolls on the scene
inspecting every stroke
hot fingers graze her canvas clean
raise visages like smoke

Round is used in the sense of making rounds.

I took this picture last winter from my front window and framed it in an old-style border. I liked the silhouette of the trees. Beyond the road is a lake with many faces. I don't mean to rush winter her in the US, but my Aussie mates have just had their winter and ready for spring.

While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease (Genesis 8:22 ESV).
