My faith in the Lord

Although Alone...

by Margaret Snowdon

Although Alone…

At times, when alone and I walk
I hear our Lord – the Creator talk
from clouds above and earth below,
in zephyr's sigh and water’s flow,
in dappled woods where moss abounds,
by babbling stream with silver sounds.

I hear Him in the hum of bees,
in rustling leaves upon the trees;
meadows where the sweet daisy grows
and bowers where no other knows;
in the clouds and in the thunder,
filling all the world with wonder.

So swift the dubious twilight wanes,
and Night his ancient sway regains;
in drowsy rest the beasts lie prone;
the birds cease warbling one by one
till not a sound terrestrial jars
with the deep silence of the stars.

Then grand and golden fancies spring
from out my heart on splendid wing,
for although alone when I walk

I hear our Lord – the Creator talk.
