Remembrance Day 2015

by robina1978

We always watch Remembrance Day on the television. This is so important for me as my father and grandfather had been deported. They came back though.

First the ceremony on the Waalsdorpervlakte, where 250 men were executed by the Germans. I just read that the clapper had fallen out: metal fatigue they said. We never noticed this.
They said Wassenaar is more for common people, I think this is the most sober and impressive one.

At 8 pm we were silent for 2 minutes. I can tell you that seems very long.

Then we switched to Amsterdam. A young girl read her winning poem, soo good. The King and Queen are always in Amsterdam.

Tomorrow I will maybe post a translation from the poem the girl read, very impressive.
