Shock and Awe

by jlsavell

A stalwart heart encased in an ounce
of feathers and bantam bones never thinks
his journey would be impossible, nor
as warblers do, be frightened of failure
His inherent plan? To soar high-
high over the Atlantic. His compass
set toward Africa- destination-
South America.
With strength more dynamic
than Samson’s grip, more powerful
than Superman’s locomotive
No comparison

Three quarters of an ounce
of unfathomable determination
20,000 feet and he finds
the prevailing winds
and 2400 miles later, he arrives
He doesn’t sleep, he doesn’t dream...
this minuscle wisp of  Herculean courage
He just does
And you?
