My Dragon

by Just2Write

I dare not speak the dreaded dragon’s name.
Relentless hunger dwells within his soul;
A wayward beast that not a one can tame;
destruction seems to be his only goal.
He’s not of me and yet he is my own.
and there's no one who speaks his name or tells
why he consumes this body to the bone
and thus destroys the very place he dwells.
Still, life will end for every mortal thing -
the flowers in the field and birds that fly.
I pray one day that he will feel death’s sting;
Oh, how I wish so much for him to die.
We are well met, me and this pyromancer
The riddle’s solved my dragon’s name is Cancer.

Cancer is such a devastating disease. I battled it two years ago, and thought that I had won the war, but it turns out that was only round one. It's back, and I am once again facing this dragon. I will go for surgery today.
April is Cancer awareness month. Wear a yellow daffodil and help to battle this deadly disease.

My sincerest thanks for use of the Dragon Graphic:
Rise Above by crystal clear on
Awesome artwork.
