Topsy Turvy

by joeruptak

As I get older I find,
strange things running through my mind,
you might think I'm crazy, but I don't care,
I think I have a magic rocking chair,
I sit and rock and close my eyes
some times I get a big surprise,
for instance, just today
it took me to a place far away,
to a valley called Topsy somewhere in Turvy land,
where difference and confusion go hand in hand,
in this valley the colors are brighter,
the blacks are blacker the whites are whiter,
the animals should be in a kaleidoscope zoo.
they are strange to me, and to you,
The purple tiger is quite a sight,
he has polkadots that are white,
the zebras really look mellow
wearing stripes of brown and yellow,
red rhinos lounge under indigo trees,
while green monkeys pick each others fleas,
all turtles are much quicker,
lavender hair on the possum is much thicker
the rivers run a bright yellow, green
where powder blue gators are to be seen,
the hippos are a cobalt red,
all you can see is their great big head,
awesome is the word when elephants come to drink
they are large and a very bright pink.
I know it is hard to believe but take my word,
in the meadow there is a unicorn herd
each a different color of his own,
it is a rainbow with hoofs being shown
the owls are not wiser the rabbits are slow,
where are the violet sheep,I don't know
turquoise cows produce milk that is blue,
that's okay, It's still good for you.
There is a sudden jolt. I am back in my rocking chair,
I had a nice visit but I wouldn't want to live there.
