Tears of the Willow

by Just2Write

Old Willow, thou art sad.  Why dost thou weep?
 That tranquil pond where cold reflection lies,
 bears witness to eternal silent tears
 and mirrors there the beauty of thy soul.
 How supple are thy limbs on evening’s breeze,
where fireflies weave light through tangled hair;
the night grows quiet, hushed by Willow’s song
 while all the world hears naught, save poetry.
 Yet, still thy tears fill life’s collective pools
 and  mingle with the merry little brook
 to moderate its laughter and its joy.
 I am perplexed how grace unfolds this way.
 The sadness in thy soul, compassion brings
 to balance cold conceit within our hearts.
