Equal Opportunity Bigots

by BeasPeas

'More Opinions, Politics & Comments' ~ #23-401-B-C

Bigot is a term people dread to be called.
What me? That's absurd.
Rankles the psyche and gets us galled.
It's akin to a four-letter word.

Resentment opens a two-way spigot
where seething anger swells,
encouraging equal-opportunity bigots,
once victims themselves.

Prejudice is not always white on black.
It often is the reverse;
an attempt to balance some perceived lack,
a glitch in the universe.

Bigots are many, no matter the shade,
trampling God, gender and race,
calling it payback for past errors made
by hurling insults to debase.

Haters strut, shout, give thumbs up to riot,
but more is lost than won
by troublemakers who seek to disquiet
because to fear is to shun.

We shun what we fear and shun you we will.
Our ears will close to your cause,
and you will discover you're not accepted still,
since your actions have broken our laws.

Throw down the race card and chaos gloats,
but that tactic is all wrong.
Can't shove approval down people's throats.
It's time to sing a new song.

Honor grows when conduct is awesome.
No one wins medals for zero.
Solutions can be found to the problem,
but rage won't be the hero.

Anarchy's name isn't spelled s-a-v-i-o-r.
Bedlam prolongs the fight.
Salvation is near but requires good behavior
to ensure a peaceful night.

You can't get something for nothing. Behavior counts. Reverse discrimination is flourishing. The ones who cry bigotry are bigots themselves. Skin color doesn't matter, behavior does.
Thank you for reading my poetry.
