The Glory of Creation

The Glory of Creation

~~~~~~~~~~~~
At first we start with nothing — soon forms a single thought,
We tug and pull out of our lull — then give it all we've got.
We swoon, then we are writing, as thoughts permeate the air.
We keep our seat – can't even eat – inspiration's everywhere.
Imagination is the drive behind the poet's motor.
The smallest things make our pens sing until our thoughts grow slower.
Fascination with creation, is it truly such a gift?
Or does it keep us tired and weak — just set our minds adrift?
Some write of love and family, while others, frightful things —
ghostly pirate ships, red luscious lips, or crystal mountain springs.
It doesn't matter what we write, simply do it every day,
fight writer's block – pick the lock – allow your thoughts to have their say.
Writing helps to keep us grounded, aware of all life's beauty.
In dark or light, though wrong or right, it is a poet's duty
to opt to think while on the brink of a poetic story,
that through it all, we're really small — it's God who gets the glory.
Inspiration can be drawn from anywhere. It's up to us to rein it in, put a bridle on it -- saddle it up, and ride it to its final destination.
Giddy-up! Heh-heh...
