Funeral of NYPD Officer Ramos

A chapter in the book More Opinions & Politics 2013~2017

That Color Was Blue

'More Opinions, Politics & Comments' ~ #17-401-B
Just a simple turn of the body
Nothing glitzy, grand or gaudy
Not boisterous, seedy or crass
Nothing low class, foul or bad ass
No lie-in, die-in on Macy's floor
Not heaving insults, stones and more
No looting, violence or burning
Just the simplicity of bodies turning
NYPD Blue, 25,000 strong, turned their backs
Condemning the Mayor for courage he lacks
The most powerful gesture of all quiet acts
While at Ramos' funeral bugler played taps
Then Commissioner Bratton stood and said,
With pride and sorrow mingled with dread
He eulogized Officers Ramos and Liu
"They were killed for their color. That color was blue."

'More Opinions, Politics & Comments'

NYPD Officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu were shot and killed while sitting in their patrol car eating lunch on December 20, 2014 by a gunman who stated on Facebook his intentions. NYPD feels Mayor DeBlasio has not been supportive of NY Finest, therefore they have turned their backs on him.
