On the eleventh hour of the eleventh day - Remembrance Day
We Will Remember Them
by Aussie
Heads bowed, uniform proud
Youth stand to attention Without the sacrifice of many No youth would stand this day. As the sun shines overhead We listen to the lone bugler He calls for the dead They move amongst us silently. Hands clasped across breasts Hats off to the fallen soldiers We live because they gave The ultimate sacrifice unto death. Grandfathers, fathers, mothers too They smile across the void No more tears they will shed Waiting for us to reach the shore. Brave men and women who fought and died Strange lands opened to welcome them Adventure called the young to travel Little they thought of their death. The war to end all wars - common phrase Still, our brave soldiers fight and die Today, we remember them Today, we thank them for our freedom. |
