"Touching friends has made me so much
richer and the worth of such an experience
is my bank."

Melancholy musing, as I drew near dear Gungalo's spot,

while others have just passed her ranking without an after thought.

Drawing near the poet here who took a newbie 'neath her wing

She seemed to say, Don't dismay, let your poetic voices sing!

Write of life, true love, and strife – sunsets that set the skies ablaze.

Of passions burning, longing – yearning for kinder, gentler days.

Above all else, be yourself, in whatever it is you do.

Never cry because it's I who's in a better place than you...

I'm nestling with the angels, sleep on billowing clouds of white,

brightness surrounds me everyday, I'm astounded by the sight.

My days are filled with sunshine, calm cool nights are free from pain;

songs that Heaven's angels sing have not one single sad refrain.

So like the one whose writes inspired me to go on trying,

who never let on, dusk 'til dawn, inside her, life was dying.

To Pam, with every poem I pen,  each and every line conceived,

I dedicate each, and pray I reach the greatness she achieved.

As I moved past Gungalo's name in the poetry rankings, my heart sank. I paused, and thought that it simply didn't seem right. A deep sadness overcame me, and I thought how fleeting our lives and achievements here on Earth truly are. And this morning, after learning of how ill our own sweet Maureen Napier is, it made the meaning behind this poem even more significant.

I didn't feel right passing her name without giving her a well earned and respectful nod as I went past. She taught me, and probably countless others, so much. After all the hard work Pam put into me, and all the unselfish time she dedicated to try and point me in the right direction, I felt I knew what she would say to me if she were still here with us...

As always, thank you so much for reading.
