Love Poem Contest Winner

amid the haze of all my days
between the littered paths and nays
of people and their many ways

past the forest of deepest doubt
where fashions are in, just before they are out

above the veil of red herring
or mackerel catching little sprat
oh, so, beyond the valley of all that

there lies a luscious sun-drenched lawn
a paradise blessed with perpetual dawn
my haven away from all the forlorn

a refuge forged so this silly old fool
may rest a while in your jasmine-scented pool

the calmest horizon I have ever known
where all my seeds, once dutifully sown
will sprout, and blossom, and bloom, and thrive
and I truly know the beauty of just being ALIVE!

a garden pure-bathed in loyalty and trust
which fills me up with wonder-lust
and paints my world in swathes of colour
to cover the dark, the dank, and the duller

you are my light in the darkest fight
you are my heat through the coldest feat
I always feel you near, my dear
although you are no longer here

rest in peace
