The relationship between a Father and son.
1st Prize
by Jackarrie
I really believed he hated me; breakfast was the worst time, "Son, will you be joining the football team today" ? Those words pounded in my ears, he would phone me and say, "the Rugby team is taking on young lads".
I hated all physical sport. My enjoyment was writing, and painting, and light opera. Mom was my rock, never put pressure on me; she shared my love of the arts. I wished I could have turned the clock back, taken the advice of my teacher, who wanted to intervene and talk to Dad.
It took two more years of a horrible life at home with his bad attitude.
My school had a yearly art competition. Mom always came to view my work.
Such joy at last to see Dad in tears, comes to see my art work, I won 1st prize
