This work has reached the exceptional level
The love and loss of a daughter.

A Mothers Wish

by baustian64

When I am gone
Do not look for me
In the grave.
Look for me in spring
Not in the rain,
But in the fragrance after.
Look to the sky
For the Eagle
And know I am it's eyes.
In the rainbow,
God's promise
I will be the color violet.
When autumn comes
Look for me in the first leaves
That turn a brilliant red
And gold.
In mid-winter
As you sleep
I will be in the snowflakes
That blanket the earth
With silent white.

But because I cannot be
Someone my daughter
Loves in life,
In death,
I want to be
The "Something"
My daughter
Treasures most.
Maybe the first "Kiss of Dawn"
That touches her face
In the morning.
Or the pillow
That cradles her head
As she sleeps.
Better yet,
How about the air she breaths
Yes, that's it
Look for me there!

But now that you have gone
And I still remain,
I will find you
In my every breath.
In the corner
Of my thoughts
And in the beat of my heart.

I wrote the first part of this poem when my daughter and I did not get along, and the second part after she took her life.
