Don't go skinny dipping with the sea creatures

Skinny Dipping

by BethShelby

I'm engaged in skinny dipping,
when I feel some creature nipping
in the shark infested waters off Capri.
Now with hopping and with skipping,
I emerge with water dripping,
and keep sprinting to get further from the sea.

But I think I am in trouble
running wildly on the double,
when I see there are policemen giving chase.
I have left my clothes behind me,
and I know those cops will find me.
Public streaking is considered a disgrace.

Now I'm sitting in the pokey,
but I think there's something hokey,
because no one's volunteered to pay my bail.
All the pals, who found me charming
have left town, and that's alarming.
When you need them, that's the time when friendships fail.

A Gertrude Poem
The rhythm goes like this, with da being unaccented and DUM being an accented syllable. The letters A, B, C show the rhyme pattern in one stanza.

da da DUM da da da DUM da
da da DUM da da da DUM da
da da DUM da da da DUM da da da DUM (
da da DUM da da da DUM da
da da DUM da da da DUM da
da da DUM da da da DUM da da da DUM

The last da blends with the first two da's of the next line to keep the pattern of three da's together to make a total of six groups of da da da in every three lines.

Pays one point and 2 member cents.
