A poem about my sweet puppy

My Dog Brutus

by Roxanna Andrews

My Sweet Puppy, Brutus

My dog is big, my dog is strong.
His tail is short and his ears are long.

I left him home to protect my house,
From robbers, vandals, or even a mouse.

I went away on a week long trip,
I told no one, not once did I slip.

But I did say that Brutus was there,
Would I be robbed? No one would dare!

Brutus Rottweiler, has such a sweet look,
I posted his picture on facebook.

No one believed I had gotten a dog.
Friends, "Post pics." Then they were all agog!

They - "He's so cute!" "We're so happy!"
Me - "Doesn't look like a stone-cold killer, does he?"

I think I sufficiently scared any hackers,
Who troll facebook because they're slackers

Just looking for an easy mark,
They'd think twice, when they heard Brutus bark!

He's just the best dog there ever was,
And the reason is, well because...

Brutus you see, he isn't real.
I know everyones yelling, "What's the deal!"

Its just that I was afraid to go away
And leave my home for more than a day,

All empty with no one to guard it,
I told a little white lie, I admit it.

I may have gotten a bit carried away,
So when I got home, on facebook one day,

I confessed and said, "Brutus isn't real."
Man, you should have heard them squeal!

Well let them be mad, let them unfriend.
If they're not careful, I just might send,

My Brutus to visit and see how they feel...
Oh wait. I forgot, he isn't real.

This is all true. =}

My nephew was graduating from hi sch and I would be in Calif for a week. My house would be empty and my good friends who usually keep an eye on it were moving that same week.

I felt so venerable leaving my house unprotected so I didn't tell anyone on facebook I was going out of town as there are hackers who love to find out that kind of info. I made up a big dog, a Rottweiler named Brutus. I found the picture on google pictures and posted it on facebook when everyone started asking for one.

No one could believe my sister and I would get a dog. People were texting my sister asking all about him and we had calls on our answering machine when we got home from a friend who kept calling to talk about the dog. My sister was not happy with me.

I got on facebook while in CA to keep up the charade. Man I am such a good liar! Is that a good thing?

Anyway I told them the truth just this way on facebook, "Hi we've been in CA, blah, blah, blah, oh and Brutus isn't real, well goodnight!" Everyone was so disappointed. Even my niece thought we had gotten a puppy and when in CA visiting I told her he wasn't real, she was most disappointed. Oh well, that's life.
