The earth is covered in a flood

A chapter in the book Noah

Noah part 2 The Flood and Rainbow

by Roxanna Andrews

Now
the ark
was finally done,
and gathering the animals
had begun. "Bring the animals two
by two." But this was not an easy job to do. Noah
gathered Elephants, tigers, giraffes and bears. Peacocks,
lions, zebras and hares. Two by two into the ark
they went, and many weeks had to be
spent, making sure every animal was
found, whether in the air or below the
ground. The food and supplies had to be bought and into the ark it all was brought. When all was ready,
God closed the ark door, seven days they waited not one hour more. Then the foundations of the deep
were broken up, and from the ground fountains of water erupt. Then the windows of heaven opened
and rain poured down. Noah and his family were safe and sound, aboard the Ark, locked
up tight. It rained for forty days and forty nights. Covered in water from highest mountain
to the tallest tree, there was nowhere for the people to flee. All perished in the
flood, for their evil and the shedding of innocent blood. Aboard the ark Noah
sat, until it came to rest on Mount Ararat. Noah let a dove out to fly
to search and see what he would spy. But it found no place
to land and return to the ark to Noah's hand. He sent
out the dove again in a week, it returned with an
olive branch in its beak. Seven more days
passed, and again the dove went out.
When it
didn't return,
Noah had no doubt, that the
waters had receded. He opened
the door of the Ark and all the animals and
his family disembark. Noah made a burnt offering to
The One On High and God placed His promise in the sky. A
rainbow would be God's sign, that no matter how much He may
pine, over the evils of men, He would never flood the earth again.

Noah not only had the task of building the ark but now he must gather every kind of animal to fill it, and he was over 600 yrs old at this time. A daunting task for an old man.

It doesn't say how long it took to gather the animals. Maybe not to long since God brought the animals to him.

He also had to have enough food and supplies for his family and the animals. Huge task. The bible says God shut the door once they were all aboard, sealing it so none could get in or out.

For seven days they sat on the ark before the rain started. The water came not just from the sky but from the ground as well. The Bible says God opened the fountains of the deep and water came up from the ground.

The earth's atmosphere at that time was surrounded by tons of water. This kept the temperature even so the earth was always the perfect temperature. God opened the windows of heaven, meaning this body of water rained down on the earth. Earth would have fluctuating temps from then on.

This was a rain that has never been seen since, as the water came down in sheets, I doubt you could even see through it and it did this for 40 days and nights. The earth was covered in water up to the highest mountain.

There was no way to steer the ark, it just went with the currents so I doubt it was a very fun ride. Talk about being sea sick. I can't imagine what that was like.

After 7 mos. The ark came to rest on MT. Ararat. A dove was sent out 3x to check how far the waters had receded and after several more months the inhabitants of the ark were allowed to disembark. That must have been a very happy day.

God put a rainbow in the sky as a promise that He would never again destroy the world with a flood. Noah and his family along with the animals, were told to be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth. Genesis 7-9
