A chapter in the book Blessed is the Fragile Heart
She keeps her vigil in her lovely room;
a warehouse made for death and those who wait.
The shadows hide in somber shades of gloom
that she must in her sadness contemplate.
There is a garden just beyond the wall.
She hasn't seen a blossom now for years;
but just the same, she waters them withal
from aching heart filled to the brim with tears.
Still, new days come and then they trundle out;
There is no one she loves to share her day.
She hums a tune in silent songs of doubt
and wonders where it was she lost her way.
Her days of wine and roses are no more.
and every day's just like the one before.
