Snow Monkeys

he says his name is Jasper
a winter monkey sitting in snow a red cardinal pecks at birdseed the whiteness of the season brings my heart down yet the arrival of cold weather primates stirs my inner being the furry critter introduces his wife, Jasmine, she nods a smile comes to my face maybe I am the Jane Goodall of New England, interacting with a troop of snow monkeys occupying a lawn of white drifts daffodils sleep below the feet and tails of wayward relatives far from their native home but I enjoy the company of snow monkeys, here to visit a woman who dislikes the cold the cardinal sings as nature brings fluffy monkeys to a woman longing for spring. |

The pic is of a snow monkey, I believe to be found in Japan. It is winter with snow and ice around my house. So like every year at this time, my imagination is on overdrive. I was thinking of what it would be like to find snow monkeys in my yard. One can only dream and write a poem.
