I got my first rejection slip
No fledgling wings ascend today
I braved the bumpy ego trip
And handled well I have to say

My wings, though clipped, demand to fly
I'll polish more and then submit
And if I get the same reply
I'll know they didn't give a shit

Prepared for worst, I'll re-apply
And they won't give a bloody shit
And I won't bloody ask them why

Though talent not in short supply
I joined the hapless writing crowd
I'll publish when those pigs will fly
Then I'll be tooting long and loud
