CRITICAL ... A-claim
a lesson in iambing and enjambing ...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I've just been blocked, it's left me vexed
I can't read crap you're posting next
oh me, oh my, oh, come on sport
I guess you don't want my report
well, that's okay, I will not coach
as there are some beyond reproach
and though you tout impressive rank
you don't quite have it in the tank
but loud you trill with foolish need
to ego stroke as you will feed
and languish in the shallow fluff
alas, that means you've had enough
of my critique in lengthy rows
so go pump hands where bullshit flows
hey, I'm not pointing loaded gun
this site is here for everyone
and isn't what we crave and seek
a fair assessment with critique?
It's what you get, no rating change
I have no need to re-arrange
my forthright, honest, metered words
that polished up your off beat turds
assisting for a length of time
to strengthen glory in your rhyme
more flourish offered to your song
yet pride would have you say I'm wrong
no help you would accept from me
well bask in four's finality
your effervescence lacked the fizz
I'm sorry, that's the way it is
and last up sport, yeah here it comes
I write in proper da's and DUMS
(C)ritique That!
No, I am not feeling vexed, nor have I been blocked ... well, not THIS week. LMAO
However I may be vaguely irritated.
Can you tell?
Honestly, some authors need to learn to take criticism on the chin, no matter how specific.
Inspite of abuse, vilification and muting or blocking, the good reviewer somehow still seems inspired to share
what they know if they think it may assist with genuine improvement. Nothing more.
This poem is written in iambic tetrameter and displays the correct da DUM placement.
There is also an example of enjambment.
Iambic tetrameter = 8 syllables with 4 pairs of iambic feet ie. daDUM daDUM daDUM daDUM
A common misconception around here is that writing to a syllable count gives correct flow and meter. NOT so.
It's the IAMBS or syllablic stresses that are critical to meter and flow in a structured format such as this.
Meanings:
IAMB = the pair of syllablic feet (da DUM) in which one unstressed syllable is followed by one stressed
syllable. ie. beFORE
"ENJAMBMENT" refers to the breaking of a syntactic unit (a phrase, clause, or sentence) by the end of a line or
between two verses.
The term is directly borrowed from the French enjambement, meaning straddling or bestriding. Sometimes also
referred to as a "run-on line".
Hmmm...I guess I've "run on" long enough. LOL
