I find myself a million miles
from where I first began.

a wholly different man.

I think about the story of
a long forgotten child.
the lessons learned and lessons spurned
existing in the wild.

His shelter sought no longer safe
again the child must flee.
with answers real, the answers feel
like punishment to he.

The wilderness can lose a man
or he himself be found.
a strength within, with strength begin
to muddle and confound.

Along the road to recompense
the charlatans appear.
so soft of skin, while boots sink in
compounding all his fear.

He dreams about the story of
the man that I became.
alone of course, without a horse
or cross to bare my shame.

I find myself back here again
right where I first began.
within my heart, another start
because I know I can.
