Ghost Written for Sherry Penney

God Loves Through You

by Janie King

We live in a world of hurting people. Sometimes it is hard enough to get through a day just for yourself, much less take the time and energy to be attentive to someone else's problems.

Our minds are where our battles originate from most of the time. It had been one battle after another all day long. As I reached for the phone, out of desperation, I started thinking about the responsibilities of a pastor. For the first time, the Holy Spirit let me see a large volume of people that reach for their phone, just as I was doing, to call their pastor for prayer. I was only one of the many who call for help.

My heart filled with a loving gratitude as I realized it didn't matter what time of day I called the pastor. I always received a warm "Hello" and "How are you doing?" from the other end of the telephone. For the first time, I became aware of how much love my pastor and his wife must have for those they shepherd over. They were always eager and ready to pray for me. They were willing to talk and listen to what was troubling me. I know in my heart that they will always be there for me.

My eyes were opened to a new truth, and I realized how blessed I am to have pastors that sacrifice their time to reach out to touch me in my time of need.

Often times, we take those that mean the most to us for granted. I bowed my head in reverence before God, and thanked him for Pastor Ron's and Sister Kimberly's willingness to always come to my rescue, for their patience and love. It means the world to me that they keep my family covered in prayer. It warms my heart to have them stand by me in the hard times as well as the good times.

I purposed in my heart that I would not fail to tell them how much I love and appreciate them. Everyone needs to know they are important. and that they are not taken for granted.

This is another piece ghost written for Bro. Ron's birthday book. It was real interesting to see the wide variety of areas that were highlighted in these pieces. This one was one done from a heart of gratitude for their always being there to help in the time of need. It is true we so often forget to say how much we appreciate someone until it's too late. Why not take a minute to let that someone in your life know how much you appreciate them? If everyone that reads this piece did so, wow, what a difference it would make in several peoples' lives. God bless.
