A children's poem with a moral

Jimmy the Pelican

by Christina 201

Jimmy was a pelican

Who lived by Venus Bay.

Every day he hoped some man

Would throw some fish his way.

He practised as the fishermen

Caught their fish each day,

To run to where they cleaned them

And threw the bones away.

All the birds came racing

Jimmy darted to the front,

Flapped his wings, and raised his beak,

And made a throaty grunt.

Finally a fisherman

Had cleaned his bucket full.

Jimmy watched that fateful hand

Swooped down on by a gull.

Now Jimmy had been training

His big, wide wings he flapped

His neck he lifted straining

His great long beak he clapped.

Jimmy took such sweet delight

In every tiny morsel.

He was not a bit polite,

Gobbling up the dorsal.

The moral of this story

Is to practise every day.

Soon you'll feel the glory.

Success is on your way.
