HITS AND MISSES


As I look at my hit rate
compared to review
there are times when I ponder the hits gone askew
of my readers who bailed
in that unknown percent
and I wonder for them how I failed to present

Were my bold fundamentals
too over the top?
Were my jester credentials p'raps lacking some pop?
Did I not pray enough?
Or admit too much sin?
Did I cause a bad taste as they took it all in?

Did I slag off my neighbour?
Or belt up the sitter?
Then brag that I'd post pics on facebook and twitter?
Did I ever palm off my atheist views
with the threat of compliance or right to abuse?

Did I not mention meadow?
Or gossamer thread?
Was my ending the pits? Was my moaning in bed
too much cacaphone racket
for all to endure?
Guess my name don't pertain to be wholesome and pure

and my language is colourful
caustic and crass
yeah, I sometimes say "fuck" and "big, bad fucking ass"
they can take me or leave me
I really don't care
I just perch on precarious limbs in the air

I'll personify anything
giving it life
I can slice it or dice it, wit's tongue like a knife
yet the hits with no comment
are what can unhinge
I can't bloody improve if they don't bloody whinge

and so I would alleviate
all doubt I had
and say maybe my writing's not really all bad
and just maybe, it's maybe
the stuff that some need
but they don't care to comment they just want to read ...

In summary ...

As I scroll through and troll through
my posts unpromoted
they're still taking hits yet not member buck coated
and that makes me ask "Is it brilliance I've toted?
Or maybe it's not, they just liked what I wroted"
So ...
For me it's the proof that
some do read for fun
extra folio hits will continue to stun ...
