This Weeping Willow Tree

This Weeping Willow Tree

As I sit against its bark with feet firmly on the ground
I feel secure in knowing, understanding is around
With blanket 'round my shoulders holding knees up to my chest
I imagine God's hugging me and inside I feel blessed

This Tree's aware how harsh and cruel the world has been out there
And still it stands majestically swaying branches in the air
It knows what sadness feels like, for it weeps both night and day
Though through the years it's not fallen or simply blown away.

Instead the very stance of it, cries out to those who weep
I'm here for you; I understand the pain you feel so deep
Go ahead and shed those tears, your sadness is not wrong
In fact to grieve completely, this will one day make you strong.

It may take much time and courage to go that deep inside
But you may help another to confront instead of hide
When someday you are old and grey, you'll look back and see
The comfort you gave others, like this weeping willow tree
