Terror at dusk

by Amyna

Shrill cries shattered the silence that descended

After the last of the orange faded from the skies

And the birds settled themselves into silence

As though the sound had come straight from hell

Engulfing every living thing in fear

The moving shadows bore the sign of devils

As they strove to put terror into hearts

Even the saintly family in residence was not spared
