I thought I always appreciated life
A Son's Birthday Remembered
by Ronni
Oh..how quickly the years went by
from once just a hopeful dream to wiggly little bundle warm in my arms such overwhelming joy flooded my heart I thought I always appreciated life never more so after giving you yours nothing in the world can ever compare to the happiness and blessing you were your giggles, grins, laughs and smiles echo as if were all just yesterday School days, such a whirlwind time so much to learn, so much to teach growing up so much faster it seemed wanting to keep you my little boy just a bit longer and longer each day only lost a little bit of your favor when you suddenly discovered girls but you kept your head and heart even then; so simple and straight my handsome growing up young man still gave mom, a kiss and hug every day seems.....just like it was yesterday Too soon, you really were a young man with a future ahead and a duty you chose while I trembled; you beamed with pride you were so sure; I, all the more afraid softly you whispered so assuredly; "It's because I love you mom, that I choose to go; don't worry...you'll always be with me mom; wherever I go" gently steadied me, blotted my tears as I had done in your turmoils years past you were strong, much braver than I you were a man; so much too soon past being my spry little guy; pride in you glowed Today is your 25th Birthday, dear son Jake heaven's angels now alight your Birthday cake my cherished celebration with you till 4 years ago sadder I am still here with you gone but just one little memory stirred, is all it takes to spark alive every bliss I ever knew your country and I, are heartily proud of you I still hear your footsteps in lull of night still feel you home, caressed in my arms still while sharing you with the The Divine One up above |
