About a gorgeous Quarter horse gelding...

Remembering Rusty

by Realist101

For miles and miles, we traveled far,
Together, through fields of green ...
Just my horse and I, 'neath summer stars,
Tiny fireflies lighting the scene ...

For years and years, we were best friends,
Together, through the good and the bad ...
'Neath sunshine and moonlight, and around every bend,
We were happy, and so seldom sad ...

It's been too long, since those wonderful days,
Old horse, I miss you still ...
To see you again, in Heaven I pray,
O'er God's beautiful, green, grassy hills ...

Rusty was a 16 hand show horse, a purebred Quarter horse gelding, who was killed by a fighter jet when it broke the sound barrier, in 1999, causing this sweet animal to rear, hitting his head on a stall beam...he died instantly, and my heart is still broken...
